An Old Frame

I have been having some fun with my airdry clay.
It's quite relaxing, because if you don't like what you have made,
you just squash it in your hand and start again!!

I have had this old wooden frame in my craft room
for ages, along with a few others. They were waiting for
me, to have the time to play with some ideas, to  make them
look a lot better than they did.

I gave it a base coat of Gesso and then a coat of grey paint.
Then came my crackle paint layer.

While that was drying, I made my roses with my Hearty Clay.
It was a first attempt at making the Calla Lily.

There we are, finished at last!!

Just a quick post and there are more sitting in my draft list!!

Have you got an Easter Egg? I haven't had one for years!!

I hope you are all staying home and safe.

My neighbour is in hospital with the Virus but appears
to be getting better. Everything crossed for him and his family.

Big hugs,
Carol

Mannequin No: 2

Hi to all my lovelies,

This is my other Mannequin I mentioned in my last posting. It is very different from the last one, much more girly.

I found some tissue paper that I had been playing with, in my stash. I had sprayed it with my Cosmic shimmer Mica sprays. I am guessing at the colours I used as, a teal colour and pearlescent.

I then stamped it with an old Penny Black Flower stamp, using Picked Raspberry DI. I tore the tissue into small pieces and using IndigoBlu Slap It On, I covered the form with the tissue. When dry, I stamped swirls using Flitter Glu and applied some silver Flitter Flakes on top.

I made a small necklace, using beads from my stash and glued it to the back, to hold it in place. I then attached a piece of lace, topped with a piece of ribbon with dangly beads on it, around the bottom.

I found the piece of cord with a tassel on each end, in my odds and sods box. I know we have all got one! Couldn't believe my luck, as the colour matched perfectly!

I made the flower from a Woodware large flower punch. I found this very strange piece of paper in my pink paper box. Goodness knows where it came from. It has a very strange texture to it but the colour was perfect. I just added a bit of the DI around the edges. I was quite pleased with it, as when made, it looked more like fabric.

The top is a door knob that I bought, when we updated the kitchen at our last house. We were selling the house and wanted to tart up the aged kitchen! As you do!! The butterfly is a Mariannes die set.

The leaves in the bottom picture, are a set I bought in a sale, Dees Distinctively.

I really enjoyed making these mannequins. Very different and fun to do. I have another 3 of them to do but will save them for next month.

I am still clearing up my craft room, from all the Christmas clutter. I have put some away but still a couple of boxes on the floor yet to do.

I have bought some new Sizzix flower dies. They are amazing. Everybody I have shown the flowers to, thought they were real. I will put them in my next post.

I am Christmas shopping tomorrow with my husband in tow! Well you do need someone to carry the bags! Just got the last few pressies to get. I hope the weather is at least dry, unlike the last few days here. Rain and then more rain!

Well I am off to cook dinner. I missed lunch, so getting a bit hungry now.

Thanks for stopping by and leaving your friendly messages.

Hugs,

The Cutest Bear On The Block!

Hi Everyone,

Surprise!! Two posts in one week!

I have been really busy making things for the Craft Fair I am doing at the end of the month in Sevenoaks, Kent. Christmas gift boxes, with gifts inside, clocks, treasure boxes, Christmas door hangers and of course, loads of Christmas cards, to name but a few.

This card is using James the Bear from Lili Of The Valley. It was one from the latest release of their Christmas stamps.

I first sprayed the card blank  and the piece of card for the topper, with 'Tattered Angels' Gold Glimmer Mist, Mica Spray. I also stamped a bit of a snowflake in each corner, with gold Brilliance Ink.

The backing paper is from last year, so have no idea where I got it! I stamped James with the Christmas Tree, using Versafine Grey Ink Pad. I then coloured him with Distress Inks, my favourite product. For the fur on his hat and the snow on the tree, I used Americana Acrylic dimensional writer.  Whilst it was still wet, I added a mixture of fine Crystal glitter and white Flock, which gave it a fluffy feel.

The sentiment is a Hobby Arts stamp I bought from The Craft Barn. I stamped it with InigoBlu Flitter Glue and then applied gold Mega Flakes to the glue. I then matted this onto a piece of silk finish gold Mirri Board.

I cut out James, so I could 3D him onto the piece of card, alongside the sentiment. I used Pinflair Gel to do this and then added some Stickles to the star and the baubles.

I hope you like little James and if you do, you should visit LOTV for even more James the Bear stamps. I do have a couple more!!

I would like to enter this card into the following challenges:

Papertake Weekly Challenge - Make it Sparkle
                          Creative Card Crew - Christmas
Crazy Hazel Nuts Christmas Challenge - Cut It Out
Sister Act Card Challenge - Anything Goes
                                     Crafty Hazel nuts Christmas Challenge2
Thanks for stopping by and please return again soon. If you are not a follower, then I would love it if you took the time to join me.

Big hugs,

A Very Special '0' Birthday

Hi everyone,

What an amazing day today. It was so warm this afternoon, I even got out in the garden for an hour and planted 24 pots of flowers!

On Sunday it is our neighbour's 90th Birthday. He is such a lovely guy, who is the main carer for his wife. He does all the cleaning, washing and cooking. On top of this, he also does the garden, in which he grows all their vegetables!

I made a card for his wife to give him and this is the one I chose to do for us. He was a 'Forester', which was quite a dangerous job in his day. He also looked after the landowners pheasants. I chose to do this tree card for him, as like him, it is tall and straight.

The stamp is one of the latest from Sheena Douglas, in her 'Little bit Sketchy' range. I firstly sprayed a piece of white card with Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist, colours Yellow Daisy and Pink Ink. Then added Cosmic Shimmer Mist, colour Golden Fish. I stamped the tree with Versamark Watermark ink and used Disco Black embossing powder, just to add a little sparkle.
On the sentiment on the front, I added 'You've Broken the record', as he is the first member of his family to reach 90 years. Sadly all his brothers and sisters are no longer here to see it.

I hope he will like his card. For a present we are getting him Garden Vouchers, as they are always useful for a gardener.
Hope you all have a good weekend. Thanks for stopping by.
Hugs,
Carol S.xx
